ABOUT THE PRESCHOOL

Macedonia Chapel Preschool is a ministry of Macedonia United Methodist Church.  We serve children aged 3-5.  Our goal is to meet the needs of each individual child in a nurturing environment and a developmentally appropriate curriculum.

Macedonia Chapel Preschool promotes the development of a child’s emotional, social, intellectual and physical skills.  Creative, stimulating activities allow each child to develop at his or her own pace through exploration and play.  Our program includes the following classroom experiences (all set in a Christian environment):

• educational learning centers
• arts and crafts
• field trips
• chapel time
• music
• indoor and outdoor play
• story times
• language and literacy development
• development of number concepts
• social development
• hands-on activities
• development of large and small motor skills

STAFF

Macedonia Chapel Preschool teachers and assistants are selected not only for their credentials and experience, but also for their warm, caring personalities and devotion to children.

Each class is led by a lead teacher and a teacher’s assistant.  All staff meet Virginia state licensing requirements (for religious exempt preschools).  All staff members have passed an extensive criminal records background check.

Our staff members are all certified in CPR and First Aid, and regularly participate in workshops and training sessions focusing on early childhood development issues.

OUR SCHOOL YEAR

Each school year begins the day after Labor Day, and concludes on the Friday before Memorial Day.  We closely follow the Frederick County Public Schools yearly calendar (with a few exceptions).

CLASSES OFFERED

All classes begin at 8:45 A.M., with dismissal at 12:00 noon.

For children turning 3, by September 30, of the current school year, and who are fully potty trained, we offer the following classes:

• Tuesday/Thursday morning classes
• Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning classes

The maximum class size for 3 year olds is 10 children.  There is a teacher and an aide in each class.

For children turning 4, by September 30, of the current school year, and who are fully potty trained, we offer the following classes:

• Tuesday/Thursday morning classes
• Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning classes
• 5 day a week morning classes

The maximum class size for 4 year olds is 12 children.  There is a teacher and aide in each class.
