Macedonia UMC youth were included in the over 600 youth on Saturday, May 14, 2011, that participated in the revitalization of three neighborhoods in an area known as “Point of Woods” in Manassas, Virginia.  Projects included creek cleanup, graffiti removal, building a gazebo, a community garden, decks, refurbishing playgrounds and basketball courts, painting homes and major landscaping, to name a few.  Our group focused on the major creek cleanup of “Tributary B”, part of Bull Run.

This mission event unites youth groups to serve people in need and transform entire communities, all in one day.

 AbbaCare

During the month of January and February, Macedonia UMC Youth, gathered infant and baby items from youth families and the congregation for AbbaCare.  On Sunday, February 13th, they held a Valentine Bake Sale, and accepted free will offerings to benefit AbbaCare.  The bake sale consisted of home baked goods, baked and decorated by our very own youth and our UMW.  The youth raised over $500 towards purchasing much needed woman, infant & children supplies for AbbaCare.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you.”
Jeremiah 1:4-5

CCAP

On Saturday, April 16th, Macedonia UMC Youth gathered, in the “Youth Zone”, with a group of CCAP volunteers and adults from Macedonia UMC, to assemble over 500 Easter baskets for the community.  These Easter goodies went to area children & families, churches, the elderly, hospitals and nursing homes.

Throughout the year, the youth will hold food drives at their Lockins and other youth events, as well as coats, clothes and school supply drives to support CCAP.

CCAP- “Congregational Community Action Project” is a local outreach organization that provides assistance with food, clothing and financially to those in need.
