What do I pray?
There are many ways to pray. You can write them, say them, sing them and on occasion you can just think them. You can get on your knees, take a walk, go for a drive, be alone, or be in a group. At some point in your spiritual development you will move from a pleading prayer, such as “Oh God why me?” to a more full and mature prayer.
Action is the key: you must do something, even if all you can do is think about opening your mind to the will of God. Things begin to happen in the Kingdom of God when you take action. This is illustrated beautifully in the book of ACTS in the New Testament of the Bible. ACTS is a wonderful title referring to the actions taken by the Apostles of Christ. A simple way to help you expand your concept of prayer is to pray the acronym A.C.T.S.
Adoration of God and all that he has given us.Confession to Him of your weakness and failings and expression of the desire of your heart to be made new.
Thanksgiving for the many blessings in your life. Even when you are low in spirit there are things to be thankful for: the sun shine, fresh air, your heart beating and so on.
Supplication; prayer for your needs and those of your family and others.
