Ok, remember the story in the Old Testament of Moses going up the mountain & approaching God. God shows him His Glory – but makes Moses hide in the crevasse of a rock so that Moses isn’t blown away by God’s awesome glory (think UV exposure, sunburn, etc).
So, during this snowmaggeden “house-arrest” experience, I was at the kitchen sink (I know, I know, if that’s hard to believe see the post “Get to – not have to” – coming next week). As I was washing dishes, I realized I was squinting. A brilliantly sunny day, and 30 inches of snow, made the kitchen window glow with a “glory” that I’ve rarely seen.
My wife, Jenn, comes in an laughs out loud at me (this is not so rare). She says, “C’mon, I know you think you’re cool, but that’s over the top!”
I was wearing sunglasses, doing the dishes. Hey, it was bright. It made me think of Moses & being able to catch a glimpse of God’s glory. Can you imagine being that close to God? Well, you are. God is here – all around – with you.
You can see a glimpse of God’s glory – anytime – you look around.
“Glory” (as found in the Bible) literally means “significance.” The snow, the trees burdened with bows-full of white & ice, everything in creation testifies to the significance of God.
God’s glory is all around – you can even glimpse it at the kitchen sink.
