Noises at Night
I got up late (or is it early at 1:30am) last night. I looked out the window – all’s well on my street. No sounds, save perhaps a dog barking in the distance.
“Fire – explosions” Samira saw & heard from her bedroom window last night in Georgia (the nation, not our friendly southern state).
When I woke up to no noise, I gave God thanks. Today there are many people, like Samira, who are awakened by war, violence and unrest. They are worried about their safety, their freedom, their future.
I don’t have those worries at all. I am thankful. Yet I am concerned for others. I pray for nations like Russia, Georgia, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. I pray for people to live in peace.
Mostly, I pray for them to know Christ, for without knowing Christ, we have no peace at all.
I found Samira’s story online because – after she was awakened by the Russian invasion – she blogged about it. If you’re praying for others like her, and you’d like to hear more about the disconcerting “noises” around the world, go to globalvoicesonline.org
