The Love that gives us life! The Love we will celebrate on Easter morning...how do we get closer to that? What keeps us from feeling that presence?

I agree with your pasta comment...we can fill in that blank w/ any of the "norms" (chocolate, junk food, tobacco, gaming systems, etc.).. they won't bring us closer to that Love unless we're adding from what we take away...(more prayer time, scripture reading, journaling, ministering, etc.)

Good job Carl! I haven't had the chance to sit and read your writing for quite some time, but I am glad that through the holiday break, I've had time to go back and digest your points. I also miss growing up and watching winter stick around rather than leave like a teasing bite on the line. Keep up the good work.

I understand what your saying but I wasn't trying to say that they had led people astray on purpose. I believe that they are doing for the best intent they are just being fooled by Satan into thinking they are doing what God wants them to do.

You have the essence of the C.S. Lewis quote and I understand your point on churches that stray. I think, however, as Christians we should ascribe people's actions to the best motives until proven otherwise. By this I mean if a person errs or does something wrong, do not assume they did it out of spite or malice or pure evil intent. A person who articulates a false doctrine is probably doing it because they feel it is right and proper in God's sight, not because they are tying to lead people astray, set up their own empire or cash cow. This does not excuse the error but it does preempt the "Off with their heads!" approach that causes such pain.

I completely agree all I hear sometimes in churches that I am visiting is "cheap grace" as you put it. I believe people want to believe in that kind of grace because they want to continue living their life and not have to deal with God or sin, because that would just get in the way of their fun.

I guess I over shot my point there and went on a small tangent that now that I reread it I truely do not believe. I guess what I was trying to say but absolutly failed too is that some churches try to add in what they believe even if there is no scripture to back it up and that can possibly lead to the church only having the bible as an ornament and not the very fondation of what they believe, and that is when they start worshipping a God of there own design that vaguely resembles the Christian God. I believe it was C.S. lewis that once said that all religions except for Christinanity are not completely wrong they are only wrong where they differ from Christianity. I appologize for my error in what I had said, it is amazing what a good night sleep can do for you.
